Catch me if I Fall Chapter 3 by resident author A.B. is now live! And the story is getting into the good stuff. :D
Hello everyone,
A.B. here. As you'll have noticed the background and look of the site has changed. This is due to a major update Weebly pushed two or three days ago on the back-end, changing our edit/publish process almost completely. That doesn't affect you readers so much but what does affect you and forced us to change the background from our black to the new white background with black letters is a bug that got introduced with the new update. A small intro/info first for those of you tech. savyy. The way Weebly works (and a lot of other new sites) is by two relatively new methods called iframes and layers. iframes are essentially different web pages overlaying the main one and is primarily used for web ads etc but here in Weebly it is used for menus and stuff like that. Layers are what the name says, it is a piece of code that separates different functions of the site into different layers so for example you can scroll down a chapter and have the background and/or the menus stay in place unlike in older web sites/pages where the menus and/or background also scrolled along with the rest of the page. Well like with all updates in software the new update caused bug(s) and one of them is that for reasons unknown something doesn't work as they should thus creating that line after scrolling down a bit which makes me think it's some kind of bug in the layers that messes it up. It's not something we could ever hope to fix in our end even if one of us was a programmer. It is something that Weebly will have to find and fix and we have notified them but we didn't want to wait as the stories were quite unreadable with that gradient shinning grey line so last night (Greece timezone) we decided not to wait for Weebly with the weekend and our main, big publishing cycle incoming and to go in and change the background and site look to black on white background with links appearing as dark blue. This would circumvent Weebly's bug(s) and make the shinning gradient disappear. This involved me going in the site's code and changing things manually in addition to Weebly's admin panel settings which may have caused some...undocumented (joke for bugs) changes until I was done and we published. Thankfully it all went well and the background should not give us any more grief any time in the foreseeable future. We hope you guys like the new look and it makes it easier to read. This is how the mobile version of the site looked so now the two different sites have become one. :D Enjoy reading our stories!
